Discovery Island Preschool and Child Care

Children at Discovery Island are encouraged to reach their full potential in every aspect of development. Children are given the opportunity to express themselves creatively through hands-on, developmentally appropriate activities that allow them to feel a sense of pride in their accomplishments.

We are concerned with the development, guidance and well being of each and every child. Our children are encouraged to reach their full potential in every aspect of development. Given the opportunity to express themselves creatively through hands-on, developmentally appropriate activities, children are learning to express pride in their play and work experiences.

Children as young as six weeks will begin to work on accomplishing and learning developmental milestones, including fine motor skills (such as pointing, grasping & pulling on toys), and gross motor skills (to include sitting up, standing, eventually walking and running). Throughout their days at Discovery Island, they will also work on social emotional skills (self-feeding & emotion regulation, etc.) and cognitive skills like recognizing safe adults, peers, and eventually preschool skills (counting, reading, recognizing colors and shapes).

All children will be provided with three balanced and nutritious meals through the USDA CACFP (Child & Adult Care Food Program), to include breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. As well as nutritious meals, children will participate in at least one hour of outdoors physical activity (weather-permitting) each day, so please dress them accordingly in order to have the most fun outdoors with their friends.
